As we prepare for the Triduum of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, we have recently unboxed in our Church in Maidstone the St Killians Candle Burning System. This new system is considered to be a safer option to the traditional wax candles and the tea lights which are now popular. The flame is protected in a break—resistant glass and the wax that liquefies travels down to a water drawer below where it hardens.

The flame extinguishes after 1.5 to 2 hours of burning depending on the ambient temperature. The self-cleaning inner glass system ensures the glass stays clean for the next candle. By using the highest grade of paraffin wax, together with the self extinguishing element of the candle, there is no creation of smoke or soot that could damage walls, ceilings or artworks.

This new system in our church follows the lead also of St. Francis Church in the Melbourne CBD. We are among the hand few churches in the Archdiocese to have adopted this system.

Please help us make this system sustainable by your $1 donation for every candle lit!
